Post Partum Depression

Counseling and Support for Post Partum Depression – Anxiety

This is supposed to be the happiest time of your life. Strangers and family alike continually tell you to “enjoy this time, it goes so fast.”

But why doesn’t it feel like time is going fast? Why are the days, the obligations, the exhaustion endless?

People will tell you to “rest when the baby sleeps.”

But you can’t. Your mind races, with worry, anxiety, restlessness.

When will I feel “normal” again? What happened to my ability to smile and feel pleasure? Why aren’t I enjoying this like everyone else? Why do I feel like I can’t get this right? Why am I crying so much, but also at times so irritable and angry?

Post Partum Depression and Anxiety are incredibly common. You are not alone to be experiencing these symptoms and the good news is that we know treatment and therapy help.

Maybe you feel ashamed to acknowledge that you are experiencing these symptoms. You might not want anyone to know you are struggling because what will they think. Does this make me a “bad” mom? Or maybe you feel that adding one more thing into your busy schedule is just too much so you decline to pursue getting help. Whatever your reasons for reluctance to engage help, I want to encourage you to reach out.

My role is in this process will be to hear your story, to normalize what you are experiencing and to let you know you are not alone. I offer a non-judgmental, experienced and empathic place for you to share, express and find peace. We will work together to find ways in which to assist you in feeling better, to get relief from the difficult feelings and to find a way forward. I offer non-traditional hours to work around the schedule of small children. In addition, I offer tele-therapy (online, secure counseling) because some find that this is the easiest option to accommodate parenting, work and household obligations.
